Renewal of Qualification
1. Renewal of Certification - Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a key requirement of the SGBC Green Mark Professional Qualification Scheme to ensure that SGBC Green Mark Professionals (GMPs) continue to maintain knowledge and skills aligned with current industry and regulatory developments.
All qualifications under the SGBC Green Mark Professional Qualification Scheme require annual renewal.
2. Renewal application period and late fee charges
Renewal applications can be made from 1st April - 30th June annually.
Any applications made after 30th June will be subjected to late fee charges.
3. Annual renewal fees
A one time non refundable payment of S$100+ (subject to GST charges) is required for submission of renewal application.
4. CPD requirements and carry forward CPD points
Renewal of qualifications is granted only upon the fulfilment of requisite Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for the respective qualification. The requisite CPD points will be deducted from the qualified professional's account upon renewal.
Any excess CPD points, capped at their respective qualification limits, will be allowed to be carried forward.

5. Renewal Application Process
Renewal of qualifications is granted only upon fulfilment of the following criteria
- Accumulation of the requisite Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points
- Payment of renewal application fees
- Submission of renewal application
- Verification by SGBC of the requisite Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points
All qualifications which have met the criteria will have their validity extended for another year.
Please allow approximately 1 month for our officers to process your CPD activities upon submission.
Applicants will be notified via email of their application status.
Failure to renew before 30th June will result in the certification status turning inactive.
6. Record of SGBC-GMP CPD points
The following activities qualify as CPD activities.
Excluding CPD events, GMPs may submit documentation to claim CPD points subject to SGBC's review and acceptance.
6.1 SGBC Accredited CPD Events
6.2 Involvement in BCA Green Mark Project (Green Mark Gold and above)
6.3 Completion of relevant Masters Degree/Doctorate (Ph.D) programmes
6.4 Publication of Research Paper(s) in distinguished academic publications or professional journals
6.5 Involvement in relevant Industry Technical Committees
6.6 CPD programmes accredited by Overseas Green Building Councils
6.7 SGBC e-Learning
6.8 Speaking/Teaching Engagement
6.1 SGBC-Accredited CPD Events
CPD points for all SGBC-accredited events (webinars, conferences, seminars, courses, learning journeys, etc) will be credited into the respective GMPs accounts according to the CPD attendance sheet that has been verified and submitted by the event organiser. It is important for GMPs to register their attendance and GMP number with the event organiser when attending SGBC-accredited events.
GMPs are not required to input or update CPD records for these events. For any clarification on missing CPD records, please contact SGBC via email at: gmp@sgbc.sg.
6.2 Involvement in BCA Green Mark Project
The Green Mark project needs to attain a rating of Gold and above.
Each Green Mark project may only be used once by each GMP as a CPD activity.
The award date of the green mark project stated on the Letter of Award (LOA) must be within 5 years of the renewal deadline.
(e.g. For renewal of certification due by 31 May 2022, the award date of the green mark project must not be earlier than 31 May 2017)
Documentary proof required are (i) Green Mark Project Letter of Award and (ii) Project Involvement Verification Form OR Client's Letter of Endorsement

6.3 Completion of relevant Masters Degree/Doctorate (Ph.D) programmes
Masters Degree/Doctorate(Ph.D) programme must relate to green building or sustainability of the built environment and conferred by an accredited local university or institution. The programme must be completed (with documentary proof or degree awarded) within 1 year of the renewal deadline. (e.g. For renewal of certification due by 31 May 2022, date of completion must not be earlier than 31 May 2021)
6 CPD points will be awarded for the completion of relevant programmes.
6.4 Publication of Research Paper(s) in distinguished academic publications or professional journals
Research Paper(s) have to be published in a distinguished professional publication or research journal. Research Paper(s) must relate to green building or sustainability of the built environment, and the date of publication must be within 1 year of renewal deadline. (e.g. For renewal of certification by 31 May 2022, the date of publication must not be earlier than 31 May 2021)
Only 1 technical article or paper may be claimed per renewal cycle and 6 CPD points will be awarded.
6.5 Involvement in relevant Industry Technical Committees
Participation in relevant technical committees convened by government agencies, professional bodies and trade associations will qualify for 2 CPD points.
Only 1 submission under this category may be claimed per renewal cycle and 2 CPD points will be awarded.
6.6 CPD programmes accredited by Overseas Green Building Councils
Programmes refer to on site events and e-learning programmes organised by overseas Green Building Councils (GBCs)
SGBC will award the same quantum of CPD points as awarded by the respective GBCs.
Currently, SGBC accepts CPD programmes from the following GBCs as being equivalent to SGBC's CPD programme:
Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC).

6.7 SGBC e-Learning
Participation in relevant technical committees convened by government agencies, professional bodies and trade associations will qualify for 2 CPD points.
Only 1 submission under this category may be claimed per renewal cycle and 2 CPD points will be awarded.
6.8 Speaking/Teaching Engagement
Speaking/Teaching engagements must relate to Green Building or sustainability of the built environment and can refer to speaking at seminars/webinars or lecturing for courses.
1 CPD point per hour of delivery will be used as a general guideline.
CPD Points claimed under this category will be capped at 6 CPD points per CPD accumulation period.
CPD can only be claimed once per course per CPD cycle. (Re-runs in the same cycle cannot be claimed)
